Description
This weekend workshop covers the techniques used to produce commercial-quality
digital typefaces using Macromedia Fontographer. The class is ideal for
anyone interested in fully realizing a typographic concept, or in simply
being able to adapt or troubleshoot existing font files reliably and efficiently.
Topics include vector construction, letterspacing, pair kerning, diacritic
and special character handling, basic hinting, encoding, cross-platform
conversion, importing and testing. The classes focus on maximizing the
capabilities (and avoiding common pitfalls) of Fontographer.

Details
Requisites: familiarity with MacOS and vector-based graphics is desirable.
Syllabus: A PDF is provided to participants upon registration.
Approach: The workshops are conducted in a conversational, non-regimented
manner. They consist of live demonstrations on a projection screen, with
Q&A throughout. Group interest often dictates which topics are given
more attention.
Focus: The emphasis of these workshops is typographic production. Topics
such as design, readability, legibility, typesetting, marketing, etc.
will generally be covered insofar as they affect production.
