For Vidange, artist Jack Usine set out to create a “kind of unclassifiable bastard typeface, something between text and display… geometry and humanism… with a strong presence of French vernacular sign lettering.” Vidange’s inspirations are very much in the vein of amateur sign lettering, with the the improbable ‘factory-roof’ M serving as a prime example.

As is often the case with so-called naïve art, Vidange is full of lively elements that defy the status quo. But even with these non-standard constructions, the forms remain recognizable and exude a dignity all their own.

The Vidange Pro Sale ends on June 16th.

Type Release: Armature Neue Sans By Bob Aufuldish

Armature Neue Sans

New typeface from designer Bob Aufuldish.

Armature Neue Sans is the clean and quirky sanserif counterpart to Armature Neue. Armature Neue is itself a redesign and expansion of the four-font Armature family original released in 1997. The updated Neue families each consist of twelve weights, including eight new cuts: Extra Light, Light, Extra Bold, Black each with matching italics. Although intended as a display face, a number of OpenType alternates are included that help regularize the type for text settings.

Carouge Pro, A Typeface with Range

Cryptic - Carouge Pro

Carouge Pro by Andre Simard now graces our virtual typeface shelves. With sixteen fonts from Ultra Thin to Ultra, Carouge Pro offers an amazing range. It’s pretty much our favorite typeface to use when tapping out messages these days. From the type designer himself:

When I designed Carouge, I wanted to create a typeface with a sober appearance and a dash of audacity. Carouge provides a fine balance between two different worlds.” —Andre Simard
